BiSHoP is named in honor of Bill Sorro, a life long activist and advocate for human rights. His relentless dedication spanned across various issues and influenced several generations of young and older community workers committed to social change. Bill's passion and love are embodied in his family as well as his selfless work. As a fierce housing advocate, he was active in the struggle for the International Hotel (I-Hotel) residents, which helped spark the housing movement in San Francisco in the late 1960s and other significant housing issues throughout the year.
